Reginald Moore, in addition to being a keen member of the OTC, was a great quarter-miler winning the under 13s in 1932 and the under 15s in the following two years. He added the 220 yards for good measure and later raced for the Old Derbeians. Reg's career with Eagle Star, where he became a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, was interrupted by the war when he was commissioned in the Sherwood Foresters finishing his service in India. Resuming his career with Eagle Star, after spells at various provincial offices, he served twenty years as Branch Manager in the Isle of Wight, finishing his career as Assistant Branch Manager of the London West End office. Reg occasionally attended Old Derbeian dinners with his wife Joyce and has passed on his running genes to one of his grandsons who took part in the Marathon des Sables in April 2008.
